Archive for the ‘Worship Gear’ Category

I have just made a cover of Sovereign Grace Music’s song called “Alive” off of their album titled “Risen.” Go buy this album. It’s great. Just a side note: this is not the same key as on the album and it might not be exactly the way they play it, but this video is more to help people be able to play it for their church, not boast that they can play it perfectly now.

This is my first guitar video using my new camera equipment;

Canon Rebel T3i
Zoom H4N
Adobe Premiere Pro CS3

Song Chords: Capo on 1st fret

Verse: Em, C, G, D

Pre-chorus: Am, C

Chorus: G, D, Am, C (3x)

B (I think) D

Bridge: Am, Em, C, D

Am, Em, D  (2x)

That’s all. Again thank you for watching and visiting my blog. Stay tuned for more videos/posts like this.

I have been wanting to begin working on some blogs directed towards helping members of church worship teams; mainly talking about gear that can greatly enhance the worship experience during the music portion of the church service, but also being wise not to distract people from God. Here is a initial list of items that I want to begin to blog about; please tell me what you want to learn about first and I will begin to work on these pieces of gear first.

  1. Guitars
  2. Amps
  3. Guitar effects
  4. PA equipment
  5. Vocal effects
  6. Products used to help progress in your talent
  7. Other (give me some ideas of what you would want to know more about)

Among the first items to be blogged about are the:

  1. Boss RC-50 Loop Station
  2. Line 6 m13
  3. Boss DR-880 Drum Machine
  4. Acoustic guitar amp and portable PA system
  5. TC Helicon Voicelive 2
  6. Fender American Deluxe HSS Stratocaster guitar
  7. Laguna acoustic guitars
  8. pedal boards
  9. Electro-Harmonix Hog
  10. Egnator Rebel 30

(This is a list of all the gear that I presently have/use for either the church service or personal practice and songwriting. You can also comment on which one of any of these items you would want to know about first.)

I believe God has gifted me with some musical abilities. I want to use them to build up His church. I tend to use this blog as one way to do that, along with what I have been doing so far. Please leave me some feedback if you are a person involved in the music ministry at your church and you want some ideas on new gear that might enhance your local church’s music ministry. And remember, this is just to enhance, not to replace a strong emphasis on Gospel preaching and loving community. Never continue to strengthen one area of your ministry if it begins to tear down other areas. Everything should be in balance.

To sum this post up, I’ll remind you of this young worship leader; We don’t worship music. We use music to worship our great God and King.  I know I am getting this idea from someone else out there in twitter-land, but I can’t think of who it is. So just remember that I am saying I got this idea from someone else… never sacrifice doctrinally correct songs in order to serve your own creativity or to build up your ego and attempt to take any glory away from our Father. Why not truly worship by making songs that ARE biblical and yet are the best songs anyone has ever heard? That’s just as much a challenge to myself as it is to anyone reading this.
