To Help and Serve

Posted: June 14, 2010 in Intro

What is the main purpose of this blog and why should anyone read it? To be honest, I do not really feel qualified, equipped, or extremely spiritually intelligent. I am not an ordained pastor and I have never been formally trained in the Bible. I have never been to a professional music or worship training school. What I do have is a new heart, new eyes to see, and new ears to hear. My cold stone heart was replaced by God himself with a soft heart so that I would have new amazing affections for God that were never before present. My blind eyes were replaced with eyes that could see so that I would no longer look deep within me and worship myself, but that I would look outside of me and worship Yahweh. My deaf ears that only listened closely to new ways that I could be praised and honored were replaced with ears that could finally hear of how amazing it is to bring my Savior praise and honor.

So we still have this question. What is the purpose of this blog?

TO HELP AND TO SERVE.

I believe that no matter how insufficient I feel, I am fully sufficient IN CHRIST.  I have a reconciled relationship with the Father because the wind of the  HOLY SPIRIT blew upon me, gave me new life, and faith in Jesus Christ’s perfect life, death, and resurrection. Now because I am a Christian, I want to help use whatever gifts God has given me, “TO EQUIP THE SAINTS.” You might ask, to equip the saints for what? Ephesians 4:11-12 talks about how God, “gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.”

What is the goal of the building up of the BODY of CHRIST?

Ephesians 4:11-16 tells us plainly:

[11] And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, [12] to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, [13] until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, [14] so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. [15] Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, [16] from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

What I see these verses saying is this. I want to use whatever gifts God has given me, so that:

  1. We Saints (The CHURCH) attain to the unity of the faith and knowledge of the SON of GOD. Basically meaning that I want to teach the Body of Christ what God is teaching me through, His Word (the Bible) and other faithful teachers, pastors, and evangelists so that we are unified in our beliefs, particularly the person and work of CHRIST.
  2. I pray that because we are attaining unity of faith, that we will no longer be like CHILDREN, “tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” Mature Christians have some degree of discernment, because of God’s grace first and foremost, but secondly because mature Christians are deeply planted in their bibles and surrounding themselves with good teachers, including their pastors, elders, books, and podcasts. Because of this, when someone starts to talk about Christianity and/or any of its elements the mature Christian discerns what is of God and what is not. They are not tossed around from one doctrinal fad to another. They are grounded in Christ and have Him as their rock and strong tower. They have built their house on the solid rock as opposed to sinking sand. I pray God uses me to help point out things in His Word in order to help us all be equipped in this life  –  filled with a multitude of people’s opinions of God that may or may not be biblical.
  3. I love reading about people apart of the Church’s great history who have equipped the people of their day, in order that they would love Christ and walk with Him. Not many people are into church history and all the amazing things we can learn from it. I hope this blog will be a bridge from our rich heritage to the people of the 21st century.
  4. And finally, I pray that by speaking the truth of God in love, that it would spread like wildfire and a deep brotherly love, that is not absent of deep thinking, would be the mark of all who call themselves SAINTS.

I do not claim to to be the perfect mature Christian. I am simply a maturing Christian who is being perfected by God.

Another way that I feel gifted is in the area of music in the church. I have now been playing guitar for 12 years. It is my passion. God has put a special call on my life to play guitar to the praise of His name and to do it to the best of my ability. I have a youtube.com channel where I would put up guitar videos all the time of worship songs and other music as well. A lot of people said that because of my help in showing how to play the guitar better, they have been very blessed. I wanted to use this blog TO EQUIP THE SAINTS for the work of building up the body of Christ with regards to guitar driven worship music so that we can all, “PLAY SKILLFULLY ON THE STRINGS.” (Psalms 33:3). And that it all might be to the praise of His glorious Grace!

Thank you for reading,

Christian
